Ministry Description
Native American Ministry leaders say only 5% of the 4 million Native people in the United States are born again Christians. There are over 500 Indian nations within our country, and 95% of them do not know our Savior. Today over half of Native people are under age 18. We are passionate about reaching Native Youth with the Gospel of Christ. These indigenous young people are often categorized as the most underserved and un-reached people in America. God has led CNY to strengthen the Christian Native Church through YOUTH, and though those who lead them. To do this more effectively we are seeking to develop a training program for youth leaders, provide resource and vision building events, and build capacity for greater partnerships within Native American Ministries. This year we are hosting Trail of Hope Indigenous Youth Conference (June 10-13) Hosting our 5th Annual Youth Leaders "De-Frag" retreat (April 16-18) We have started a new training program with youth leaders and pastors. We are posing videos for youth leader training on a web site for youth leaders: www.youthleaders.net/ylu Mentoring many Indigenous Youth Leaders Continuing the Native Youth Network (an affinity network within the National Network of Youth Ministries) Helping lead the Southwest Native Ministry Alliance Helping the Native Church become a “Sending” Church
Prayer Requests
Full time staff: administrative assistant, event coordinator, communications director, and youth leaders. For our upcoming Trail of Hope Youth Conference: We expect over three hundred Native American students to attend this training conference. It is a huge project and we pray that the Lord will provide at least 100 committed prayer partners, $30,000 and the needed volunteers to make this happen! The success of our ministry is in direct proportion to the prayer behind it. Please pray for the small tribes in NM, which are very closed to the Gospel. We are working with several young indigenous leaders who work with the pueblo tribes along the Rio Grande. These special people face unbelievable challenges and hostilities toward Christianity and the Gospel - that most would consider impossible here in the US. For focus and direction. We have a new leadership team, which continues to help define and strategize our progress. Please pray Chuck and Cindy will not be too busy, and that they would have wisdom as parents, especially that that our sons will grow in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and with man, as Jesus did. Please pray for Cindy's mom who lives with us.
