Ministry Description

Our family of six lives in Saint Louis, Senegal, West Africa. After spending a year in France to learn French we are now using that language to communicate and to also learn the Wolof language. Our goal is to learn this language well to be able to speak into the hearts of the Senegalese people. In particular, there are nearly 5 million Wolof people in Senegal who need to encounter the love, truth, and power of Jesus. There may be as many as 150 followers of Christ among the Wolof, but most of the Wolof people are Muslims. It is our vision to see the scattered believers unite and for God to begin a church-planting movement among the Wolof people. With this in mind, we are studying hard to be prepared for what God has in store for us. As we build relationships and learn the culture it is a joy to experience the Senegalese hospitality and earn opportunities to share the truth of Jesus. Yes, life is very different here in Africa, at times even difficult, but knowing that we may be the only representation of Jesus that the people here may ever see makes it worth it all.

Prayer Requests

Please pray we take on Christ's humility, keep His mission in mind, and learn the Wolof language well. Please pray we are flexible and sensitive to others as we learn the Wolof culture. Please pray for opportunities to share God's truth. Please pray for our neighbors and Wolof friends to have dreams and other experiences of Jesus' power. Please pray as we develop relationships with Senegalese believers and for us as we work together for God's kingdom. Please pray for us to be good parents as we direct our children towards Christ as well. Please pray for our health. We have a sense of urgency as there are millions of Wolof people who do not know Jesus. Please pray that God would make Himself known to the Wolof people of Senegal. May they encounter the love, truth, and power of Jesus and be transformed by Him. And may we be a useful part of this process.
