All Church Picnic

All are welcome to attend the All Church Picnic, Sunday, September 12, on the lawn following the 10:30 am service.

Those with last names beginning with

A ~ O Please bring a salad or side dish to serve 10-12
P ~ Z Please bring a dessert to serve 10-12

Coolers and refrigeration will be available to keep things cool (if needed). Desserts, salads & side dishes may be dropped off in the Fellowship Hall kitchen before the 10:30 am service.

Hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, condiments, and beverages will be provided.

If you would like to volunteer to help setup or serve, please contact Pastor Dan Petersen or sign up via the Connect Card in Sunday’s Worship Folder

During the summer, July – Labor Day Weekend, children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade accompany their parents to attend the 10:30 am service. Classes for preschool ages continue.

Long Hill Chapel’s Women’s Ministries is planning a Women’s Retreat for Fall 2010.

Long Hill Chapel’s Women’s Ministries

Saturday, October 2, 9 am ~ Sunday, October 3, 12 Noon

The Westin Governor Morris
2 Whippany Road, Morristown, New Jersey

Join us for a fun filled weekend as we learn how to love well. Through video we will hear from best-selling author and teacher Beth Moore, enjoy fun and fellowship with other women, laugh our heads off, shed a few tears, eat, stay up late, make new friends and enjoy old friends.

It’s a weekend you don’t want to miss! This is a retreat in our own back yard. We encourage all to break away from the day to day activities to enjoy this fellowship time and allow God to work in your lives.

Cost: $135 per person includes the cost of your 1 night stay (double occupancy), lunch, dinner, and breakfast, conference facilities, book and an excursion

Registration: A Deposit of $65 due by July 30, 2010, Final Payment of $70 due by August 30, 2010

Vacation Bible School

This summer, bring your kids, age 4 through 5th grade, to SonQuest Rainforest VBS at Long Hill Chapel – an experience of discovery they’ll never forget! Children will participate in a life-changing jungle journey each evening from 6:30 – 8:30 pm during our Vacation Bible School, a week of fun and adventure, June 28 – July 2

As they participate in fun-filled activities, children will learn about God’s amazing love and His Word, the Bible! We will have a great time with lively songs, hilarious skits, creative crafts, exciting games, Bible stories and tasty snacks – all of the things that make Vacation Bible School so much fun for children.

Best of all, SonQuest Rainforest will take your kids beyond what they can explore with their senses to discover a living spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God:

Kids will . . .

As they hear the truths of the Parable of the Sower, kids will understand the importance of not only hearing God’s Word, the Bible, but also living it out every day.

As they hear Jesus tell the Parable of the Lost Sheep, they’ll discover what it means to be lost and how each one can be found by Jesus to become part of God’s family.

As they listen to the Parable of the Good Samaritan, kids will be inspired to share God’s immeasurable love with others.

From the Parable of the Friend at Midnight, they’ll understand the peace that comes from knowing that anytime is the right time to pray to Jesus.

As they understand the Parable of the Talents, they’ll discover what it means to love God by doing their best.

SonQuest Rainforest can be an educational and inspirational adventure for your entire family. Classes for children are held each evening, Monday-Friday from 6:30 – 8:30 pm and parents are invited to join them on Friday, July 2 for the closing program at 8:00 pm.

Career Directions Workshop

Long Hill Chapel is hosting a Career Directions Workshop on Monday evenings through June 28 from 7:30-9:30 pm in Fellowship Hall – Room 204. This workshop is open to the community and would benefit those who are currently out of work, those considering a career change, as well as those just entering the job market.

Presenters:

Don Sutaria is Founder & President of CareerQuest located in New York and New Jersey. He is a consultant to individuals and various corporations, offering executive coaching and career management services. He has developed unique methods for capturing jobs in the new millennium.

Don has over forty years of diversified industrial and management experience, complemented by training in career development and hands-on experience in career advising. His most recent position was that of a Career Development Counselor at the Forty Plus Executives Club of New York and is also a former Certified Five O’Clock Club Career Counselor.

Tom Wilson is a recruiting executive with a broad array of experience helping major corporations attract outstanding employees and coaching candidates at all levels of experience to successfully navigate the recruiting process.

The former Global Head of Recruiting at Merrill Lynch, Tom currently heads a consulting practice serving the executive search industry and is also Chairman of Lime Connect, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing career opportunities for people with disabilities. In addition, Tom sits on Advisory Boards serving the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
