No one likes to see a child fall. I can still vividly remember those first few moments, days, and weeks, after my children were born. Holding them all bundled, promising to protect them from the world and asking for wisdom to make this reality. Looking back I see where I have “stuck to my guns” and where I have failed and I still struggle to some extent in wanting to protect them. It’s a natural instinct. But where do you draw the line when you know that what your child is doing will eventually bring defeat, harm, or even ruin. Yes, I believe in the sovereignty of God, that “all things work together for good,” and in training “a child in the way they should go.” But now that they are grown and are learning from the decisions they make themselves, I still pray for their protection, their safety, and wisdom to make right choices. And as a parent, oh how I pray they will. There is a deep, deep ache in my heart knowing that they will sometimes stumble and fall. And when they do, following the example I’ve learned from my Heavenly Father, I will be there to dust them off, hold their hand, apply the band-aid, and do all I can to show them that they are loved no matter what.

when i was growing up i was a huge fan of saturday morning cartoons. one of my all time favorites…G.I. Joe!! with all the fun stuff that was happening in the show, they always had these little commercial spots they used to play in between the commercials.
they were always meant to give you information on right decisions to make, like; don’t hide in fridges, and don’t build tree houses by yourself, and one of my favorites…don’t judge girl skateboarders!
there was a catch phrase that they had at the end of every spot that has always stuck with me. the hero would come in and give advice, the kids would respond with “wow, now we know” and the catch phrase then came in…”AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!!”
this saturday @ 8:30am till 11:30am we’ll be having a wonderful parents seminar to help bring you up on what happening around you as you try to parent your preteens and teens. Our attempt in help you “KNOW” because “KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE”. We all know that raising kids sometimes feels like a battle…and as a ministry we want to do everything we can to help partner with you for as much of that as we can:)
hope to see you there…
