monday night dave dew and i were working on my basement. that seems to be the gist of most monday nights since we’ve bought our house, but it’s gotten better since MNF started.
anyone who knows me knows that i pride myself on being a giants fan…and that i love giving jets fans a hard time. never malicious, just like i do mets fans:) after david and i finished a wall, we thought we deserved a little sit down football time. 1st quart ended and farve was getting beat up by the chargers DEF pretty bad, i felt a touch of compassion for the team and their fans b/c i know what it feels like to root for a team that just can’t seem to put it together.
then david and i saw this picture flash across the screen…all my compassion went out the window and tons of laughter ensued in my basement. i was alomst worried i was gonna wake up the kids we were so loud. the J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! is the chant of all chants for jets fans…just just too bad they can’t spell it right.
it did make me think though, how often are we so excited about being recognized that we mess up who we are representing. how often am i falsely representing Christ to people i don’t even know are watching?
Lord help me to look like you at all times so that whoever is looking on will be blessed and see you.

i’m not gonna lie, i’m a HUGE football fan, i even have 3 fantasy teams that i manage each year:) with as excited as i was for the reigning super bowl giants to take the field last thursday and beat up on the redskins, i was even more excited for the kickoff of LHCyouth ministries starting up last wednesday. we prepared for a handful of students on wednesday and got overloaded with students who were so excited to be there. we had so many kids the room felt electric! after a couple songs and an introduction into our new study of the year, the book of acts, we broke into our small groups. it was such a blessing for me to sit back, visit each group, and meet our new students. 7 small groups, and 2 that we know will have to split ASAP…but we need more leaders! what a great problem to have:)then sunday night, 24:7 and iT started up. major kickoff for the NFL couple with LHCyouth major outreach kickoff…can’t beat that kind of sunday! the night was great; we played some dodgeball, worshiped as a community, and started our new series on creating healthy HABITS in our spiritual journey. so many kids, not enough leaders:( last week summary: PBbk amazing, giants win, 24:7 & iT amazing, i’m starting the year with a 2-1 fantasy record…it’s been a fantastic week:)
